Feedback from some users (thank you) have suggested that I include a difficulty scale, time required and if the recipes have some crazy yet fabulous new ingredient that most home cooks may not have on hand.
So, in trying to make this site easier to navigate I have added to the Category Sidebar the links that will group the recipes to their respective difficulty: Easy, Moderate & Hard.
Easy: Requires common ingredients and little to basic cooking skills. Usually very quick or includes inactive time.
Moderate: May have a few fun (new) ingredients that you will need to head to the store to get. More active prep time involved and more cooking experience. Nothing too scary, an example would be a fun special dessert like Crème Brûlée or a pasta dish like Manicotti that requires you to cook the pasta, roll it and make a sauce from scratch.
Hard: In my eyes, there won’t really be many recipes in this category but will more than likely be a fun dessert. If you like a challenge and I do sometimes this would be the type of recipe to try. To each their own, what may be hard for some is not for others.
Most of my recipes (in my opinion) fall into the easy-moderate range. But I love cooking, do it frequently and understand that many may be intimidated by a new ingredient or put off by how much time it takes. I will put under the photo the difficulty and an alert to new (fun) ingredients. Read through the recipe quickly to ascertain the time involved, again, most of my recipes range from 30 minutes to an hour. Usually if they are longer they have inactive prep time, like marinading, baking, chilling, etc.
Be adventurous! Branch out, expand your skills & try something new when you have the time and luxury of testing it on your family before you serve it at your next get together, so you are comfortable and confident.
Good luck & remember I am always checking the site and will respond as soon as possible (within reason) to questions or you can email me with specific questions at gunnhp(at)hotmail dot com.
